HeLierix Aviation Consultancy was founded on September 1st 2018 by Han van Lier, an aviation professional. I started my career in 1986 as a military helicopter pilot for the Royal Netherlands Air Force. With the Alouette III hlelicopter, I took part of the United Nations Transitional Authority (UNTAC) in Cambodia, was a proud member of the Royal Flight team to perform VIP-missions for the Royal Family for four years and soon got the chance to became a Flight Instructor. From 1996 – 1999 I was granted the opportunity to act as a Flight Instructor on the UH-1 Huey in Ft. Rucker, Al. in the USA, which included Basic- and Advanced Combat Skills, Night Vision Goggle training, Instrument Flying and Mountain Flying in Colorado.
Back in the Netherlands, the transition to the CH-47D Chinook was completed. I took part in many missions for the United Nations (UN) and the Northern Allied Treaty Organization (NATO) in various conflict areas around the world. I retired from the military as acting Head of Helicopter Training in 2007.

In that year I was requested to join CHC Helicopter Netherlands, one of the leading Offshore Helicopter Operators in the world, as Type Rating Instructor/Examiner, to provide additional training capability within the company. During my employment, I also fulfilled the role of Deputy Manager Crew Training (D-MCT) and as AW139 Type Check Pilot (TCP), I provide advise to all regional MCTs worldwide concerning their training- and checkingprogram. On the side I am Senior Examiner for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and as such, I am a member of the national Standardization Committee Helicopters.
